Sleeping
Rebekah was awake but quiet most of the morning and then finally zonked out. No fever for almost 24 hours, so that's good. She is dreaming Happy Birthday wishes to her Mema (tried to post this yesterday).
Staff
So, the bacteria that grew is called staff epi and it commonly grows on the skin. Because Rebekah's second blood draw didn't grow anything, they are saying the prior growth was a contaminate.

Good News
Rebekah has improved today from a respiratory stand point. However, she still has a fever every few hours. Her respiratory virus panel came back all negative though, so that is awesome.

Aspiration
Rebekah once again has aspiration pneumonia. This time, we know what caused it: a well meaning, but ignorant nurse who gave her part of her vaccine through her mouth as I was saying, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! She can't take anything through her mouth!" That was 2 days ago. On the plus side, she's gained some more weight.

Ups and Downs
Rebekah is still having some oxygenation problems every once in a while. Luckily, I have oxygen already at home, so I just keep bothering the pediatrician at home and the cardiology team in Winston so that they are kept up to date. They don't seem too worried since she only needs it intermittently and is doing great otherwise. She has continued to gain weight, 7lb 1.5oz last Thursday, and smiles tons, so I know she is happy. She is such a good baby too; she only fusses when something is wrong (like her diaper needs to be changed or she wants to be held a different way, etc.) but she quietens down as soon as I figure out what is wrong.

Little fighter
Rebekah has been doing so well. She keeps throwing fevers every now and then and I've had her to the doctor several times but her white blood cell count is always normal and her fever resolves itself within about an hour usually on its own. They think she may have trouble with her hypothalamus and regulating her temperature.

Fingers, Yum!
Rebekah has done fabulously so far at home. Her newest hobby is pushing the pacifier out of her mouth so that she can eat her fingers, one by one. She will put one finger in, pull it out, then put the next one in, and so on and so forth and then she starts over. It is so stinking cute! Her other favorite past time is having her big sister hold her while they stare at each other.

Cold
Sorry that I haven't posted any updates lately. Yesterday morning, Rebekah was re admitted to the hospital for an uncontrolled fever. Turns out that she has a respiratory virus that is similar to a cold. She is currently doing much better after her fever finally resolved late last night and is set to go home tomorrow. It is our hope that she will be able to remain healthy this next time though we couldn't have done anything any better this last time since we already didn't go anywhere.

Home Again
Rebekah came home today! Woohoo! It is so exciting. This time, they sent her home on a pulse ox machine that will measure her heart rate and oxygen saturation continuously. That makes me feel much more comfortable with her being home this time.

Not too hot
Last night, Rebekah had a fairly bad episode where her heart rate dropped into the 50s and her O2 stats dropped to the 20s. She had to have help recovering from the nurses and respiratory therapist. This morning, she had another, similar, episode that wasn't quite as bad: her heart rate dropped into the 70s and her O2 stats dropped into the 60s. The doctors don't know what's causing it as of now, but they are running tests.

GJ
Rebekah is currently back in interventional radiology getting her gj placed. I hope that this will be the key to turning her weight problem into weight gain and that this will enable her to eat safely until she can get her Nissan surgery in a few weeks.

Back at Brenners
So, today I took Rebekah to the peds office because she was dusky, fussy, coughing, sneezing, and not sleeping well. Her oxygen saturation was only 75%. So, they sent us to the ER to do some tests and then we were sent to Brenners again with an aspiration pneumonia diagnosis. She is currently stable and sleeping. They have already started antibiotics to help her get better. She is "on the floor" which means she is just here for observation right now.
